Goodwill Industries opens first Job Connection Site in Strongsville
Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio is proud to introduce Job Connection, a digital resource and employment center to the list of mission services available to the community. The first Job Connection center opened inside the Strongsville store and includes employment resources and a small computer lab.
“Job Connection is a program that many Goodwill’s offer and we are excited to introduce it here,” commented President and CEO Anne Richards. “It’s about offering our services to the community at large, and it’s about connecting our mission work to our retail setting.” Job Connection will be staffed with Goodwill mission staff and will offer open hours to the community for digital skills training or employment support.
A curriculum of digital classes will be offered at Job Connection sites which may include topics such as Computer Basics, Internet Safety & Security, Microsoft Office Basics and programs on understanding the Google suite of products. Goodwill was awarded this year and into 2019 a Grow with Google grant designed to increase the digital skills of the communities we serve. The Job Connection model helps to meet the goals of the Grow with Google program and further grant support is already being sought for additional Job Connection centers opening in the coming year.
